What's New

The My School website has been updated in 2020 to reflect changes agreed to by education ministers following a review of My School in 2019.

The recommended that:

1. the number of displays of NAPLAN data on the My School website be reduced
2. there be greater focus on the My School website on student progress using NAPLAN results, rather than on comparisons of statistically similar schools.

The changes will help parents and school authorities see how a school is performing in supporting student progress (i.e. improving literacy and numeracy outcomes over the two years since the previous NAPLAN tests), and less on ‘school versus school’ comparisons that only take account of overall levels of achievement.

What's changed

NAPLAN data on the My School website is now displayed over two pages as ‘Student progress’ and ‘Results’.

These pages can be accessed through a drop-down menu from a school’s navigation bar.

Student progress

The NAPLAN student progress page shows how much NAPLAN results at the selected school have improved since the students did NAPLAN two years ago (ie: Year 3 to Year 5, or Year 7 – Year 9). You can compare this progress with the amount of improvement achieved by other students:

  • With the same starting score and similar backgrounds.
  • All Australian students.

A time series of student progress is provided, so you can see how consistently a school has performed over the last five years in helping students achieve progress.

2020欧洲杯娱乐官网You can also see the percentage of students at the school making above average progress in reading, writing and numeracy. Information can be viewed by year level and domain over a two-year period.

Results

2020欧洲杯娱乐官网NAPLAN results, including over time, are now shown on a single ‘student results’ page. NAPLAN participation is shown as an overall participation rate on the NAPLAN ‘student results’ page.

The student results table shows the average student results at a school for the selected year. The cells of the table are colour-coded to show how the school's results compare to the average NAPLAN score of all students across the country with a similar background.

Student background is determined using ICSEA data, that is, by parental occupation and education (socio-educational advantage, or SEA), Indigeneity and location of the school.
